Scandinavian Goods Store - Terms of Sale

Welcome to the Scandinavian Goods online store at www.scandinaviangoods.us (hereinafter referred to as the “online store”). The online store is owned and operated by Scandinavian Goods, registered under FI 2313909-9 (hereinafter referred to as “Scandinavian Goods”).
If you have any questions regarding the online store, please contact our Customer Service team. If your inquiry is about a purchase, please provide your order number so that to make it easier for us to help you. We only process inquiries regarding the online store and purchases made here.
1. General terms of sale
These Terms of Sale apply to Scandinavian Goods and the user of the online store (hereinafter referred to as the “Buyer”) when the Buyer purchases products in the online store. By purchasing products in the online store, the Buyer accepts these Terms of Sale and agrees to comply with them.
Scandinavian Goods reserves the right to change these Terms of Sale by announcing the changes in the online store. The Buyer accepts the currently valid Terms of Sale when making transactions in the online store.
2. Placing an order
To place an order in the online store, the Buyer must be at least 18 years old. The Buyer can place an order by logging into the online store under their account or place an order without registering an account, providing all the requested information (full name, shipping address, phone number, email address and payment details).
Ordering products in the online store is done by adding them to the shopping cart and paying for them in the online store’s checkout. We recommend that you check the contents of your shopping cart before submitting the final order, as once you have submitted the final order, you will not be able to make any changes to your order, such as adding products or services.
After you have placed an order, you will receive an automatic order confirmation to the e-mail address you provided. Scandinavian Goods has the right to refuse to accept your order or part of it for a justified reason, despite sending a confirmation message.
The shelf life of food products in the online store is at least 45 days, with the exception of bakery products, the shelf life of which varies from 3 to 21 days.
3. Prices
The price of a product is the price displayed on the online store page in connection with the product information at the time of ordering.
The price of a product does not include shipping cost. The shipping cost is added to the final price of the order and is displayed in the online store at checkout after selecting the destination country.
The shipping cost is priced according to the delivery method, destination, weight or volumetric weight (1 m3 = 200 kg) of the parcel/shipment.
All prices for products and services in the online store are indicated in US dollars and are valid at the time of ordering.
When selling and transporting products to EU countries, the indicated prices include value added tax in accordance with the Finnish legislation.
When selling and transporting products outside the EU countries, the indicated prices do not include value added tax and the consignee is liable for any applicable duties, fees and taxes.
4. Payment
Paying in Scandinavian Goods online store is always safe. You can choose a suitable payment method from numerous options, namely:
- PayPal
- Wallets: Apple Pay, Shop Pay, Google Pay
- Bancontact – available for customers in Belgium
- iDEAL – available for customers in the Netherlands
- Credit and debit card payments (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express, UnionPay)
- Invoicing service (we will deduct VAT for you if you are a legal entity registered in the EU and have a valid VAT number)
Any possible discount codes offered by Scandinavian Goods that entitle you to a discount on a specific product or order can also be used when paying for your order.
5. Product availability
Scandinavian Goods strives to ensure that the online store provides accurate and up-to-date product information, but cannot guarantee the correctness of the information or the availability of products. Some of the products sold in the online store are so-called seasonal products, which are only available for a limited period of time. A product displayed in the online store may also be temporarily out of stock or sold out.
Scandinavian Goods will contact you in the event that Scandinavian Goods is temporarily or completely unable to deliver the ordered product. If the product cannot be delivered at all and you do not wish to have a replacement product, Scandinavian Goods reimburses you the purchase cost.
6. Terms of delivery
Scandinavian Goods delivers the products it sells to the Buyer on the basis of a transport agreement concluded with a third party. The order is delivered in accordance with the delivery method selected by the Buyer.
Once the products have been packed at the Scandinavian Goods warehouse and ready for shipping, you will receive a shipping confirmation and shipment tracking code by e-mail. Once your shipment has been sent to the delivery service, you will be able to track the shipment on the delivery partner’s website.
Scandinavian Goods ships its products to more than 200 countries worldwide. All products in stock are shipped within 1–3 business days. Scandinavian Goods is not responsible for the order processing time in the event of technical problems that prevent the order from being processed, out of stock products, or during seasonal sales.
Scandinavian Goods strives to deliver ordered products on time and in one shipment. However, Scandinavian Goods reserves the right to deliver products to the Buyer in separate shipments and in some cases the delivery methods may differ depending on the destination country.
Please note that delivery of products to PO BOX addresses is not available.
The delivery time is calculated for each order individually. The delivery time depends on product availability, the destination of the shipment and the chosen delivery method.
The delivery time estimates are average delivery times based on research and transport connections. The presented delivery times are estimated average times and exceeding these times does not obligate Scandinavian Goods to compensate for the lost time, citing international postal regulations.
Scandinavian Goods is not responsible for the delivery time of the order if the Buyer has selected and paid for economy shipping service (UPS Expedited or UPS Standard) for their order.
The Buyer is obliged to check that the contents of the order comply with the import regulations of the destination country. Scandinavian Goods is not responsible for the delivery of the order if the Buyer has selected and paid for products that are prohibited for import in the destination country.
The Buyer is obliged to provide the correct delivery address for the order at the time of placing the order. The Buyer is responsible for additional delivery costs for the order if the delivery must be repeated due to an incorrect delivery address.
Scandinavian Goods is responsible for product loss or damage during transport.
7. Privacy and data protection
Scandinavian Goods is responsible for the appropriate processing of the information provided by the Buyer and for maintaining the Buyer's privacy. The information provided by the Buyer is stored in the customer register of the online store.
The mandatory information for registration is the Buyer’s first name, surname, full address, telephone number and e-mail address, which is used as the username when logging in.
Scandinavian Goods does not transfer the collected personal data to third parties. The information from the customer register may be used for electronic direct marketing only if the Buyer has given their consent.
The Buyer has the right to check and change personal data through the online store. If the Buyer wants their information to be completely removed from the customer register of the online store, the Buyer must contact our Customer Service team.
8. Returns
According to the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (38/1978; amendments up to 29/2005 included) and the EU E-Commerce Directive, you have the right to return the products by notifying the Scandinavian Goods within thirty (30) days of receiving the order.
The condition for a return is that, the products were purchased from the Scandinavian Goods online store, the products have not been used, the products are packed in their original packaging and the products and their packaging are undamaged.
Please note that food products cannot be returned or exchanged.
If you wish to return products, please contact our Customer Service team at info@scandinaviangoods.us. When returning products, the Buyer is responsible for the transport risks and return costs.
Scandinavian Goods reimburses the cost of returned products through the means of payment used by the Buyer within 3 business days of receiving the products at the Scandinavian Goods warehouse.
9. Defective product or product damaged during transportation
Scandinavian Goods is responsible for manufacturing defects in products as well as for damage to products during transportation in accordance with the currently valid, applicable Finnish legislation.
Please check the cardboard packaging for external damage when your order is delivered before signing the delivery confirmation. If you find any damage such as dirt, moisture, cuts or other damage, ask the courier to register an initial complaint about the issue.
After receiving your order, check that the delivery contains all the products you ordered and that the products are free of manufacturing defects and damage.
If the product you received has manufacturing defect or damaged during transportation, take photos of both the packaging and the product itself. Send us the photos and a more detailed description in the claim form within three days of receiving your order. Our Customer Service team will contact you as soon as possible. Please note that claims sent after the established deadline will not be considered.
The Buyer is not entitled to make a claim for a product defect that arose because Scandinavian Goods delivered the product in accordance with the Buyer’s instructions to an address the circumstances of which do not fulfil the recommendations set on the shelf-life of the product (for example, delivery of bakery products using UPS Expedited or UPS Standard delivery services).
10. Force majeure
Scandinavian Goods is not responsible for delays in delivery caused by force majeure or indirect damages caused by delayed delivery.
11. Cancellation of an order and refusal to accept the products
You can cancel your order without giving a reason within 24 hours of receiving the order confirmation, if the order has not been packed and sent to the delivery service.
Any products returned to the Scandinavian Goods warehouse due to the fault of the Buyer, namely the Buyer ordered products prohibited for import to the destination country, the Buyer provided an incorrect delivery address, the Buyer did not pay customs duties, taxes or other costs associated with customs clearance of the products, the Buyer refused to accept the products or did not collect the delivered products from the delivery location within the specified time, will be considered by Scandinavian Goods as a refusal by the Buyer to comply with these Terms of Sale. In case of refusal to comply with these Terms of Sale, the purchase cost (cost of purchased goods + delivery cost) is not refundable.
12. Applicable law and dispute resolution
These Terms of Sale are governed by the current laws of Finland and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Finland.
The Parties shall attempt to resolve any disputes arising out of these Terms of Sale or their application, primarily through negotiations. If negotiations do not lead to a settlement, the disputes are resolved in the District Court of Helsinki, Finland.
